Tasting Notes

Our 2018 pale coral Clarksburg Rosé is bone dry and offers delicate floral and fruit characteristics balanced with bright acidity. On the nose it shows notes of violets and rose petals emboldened by crisp Fuji apple and Asian pear aromas. On the palate is exhibits hints of dried herbs and distinct bright fruit notes of watermelon, strawberry and zesty lemon granita.

Winemaker Notes

The Heringer family farms grapes specifically for our Rosé so we can dial the ripeness level at which to pick for bright aromatics and razor-sharp acitidy. Havested and pressed on September 6, 2018 giving the juice just enough skin contact to achieve the perfect proportions of color and flavor. The Tempranillo was destemmed before pressing to enhance the texture and structure while the Mouvedre was pressed using whole clusters to bring out the freshness of the fruit. Our Rosé was fermented in stainless steel tanks with no secondary malolatctic fermentation to maintain its zesty profile. The wine was aged in stainless steel barrels to maintain its flavor intensity for approximately seven months and bottled on March 21, 2019.

Food Pairing

Perfect pairing with this wine would be a summer evening at a Mediterranean dinner party, hovering with friends for hours over a meal of grilled lamb and fresh pita with black olive tapenade. Or takeout Greek Gyros with dill tzatziki. Or just enjoy it alone poolside, even at the beach with your favorite fruit and cheese. Serve well chilled.
